Teaching strategies for different learning styles: Models of Co-Teaching

In this podcast episode, we talk about teaching strategies for different learning styles, such as different models of co-teaching and how you can use them in your classroom. In this episode we mention coffee, differentiating instruction, teaching strategies for different learning styles, and different ways to co-teach. We talk about six different co-teaching options- what they are, how to best use them in the classroom, and what not to do. The six models of co-teaching that support teaching strategies for different learning styles are:

  1. One Teach, One Assist- one teacher teaches and one teacher assists struggling students or helps with behaviors
  2. One Teach, One Observe- one teacher teaches and one observes & takes data
  3. Team Teaching- the two teachers teach together
  4. Station Teaching- each teacher teaches a small group, and the groups rotate to different stations
  5. Parallel Teaching- the class is split in two and each teacher teaches their group the same content
  6. Alternative Teaching- one teacher teaches the main group and the other teacher teaches a small group (they may work on remediation, enrichment…)
