Stay Organized With an IEP Meeting Agenda
Sometimes when emotions are high, or when the conversation gets off track, you can forget what you need to talk about next. An IEP meeting agenda will help your meeting to flow smoothly. I always keep a copy of mine next to me during the meeting.

What are More Tips for My Meetings?
Preparing for an IEP meeting ahead of time can save you time during the actual meeting. Here are my quick tips:
- Set up the meeting room a few minutes ahead of time
- Check there that are enough chairs for everyone attending
- If there is not enough space in the room for everyone, move the meeting to a different room
- Make sure that you have these items on the table:
- Pens
- Highlighters
- Tissues
- Sometimes there are tears of frustration and sometimes there are happy tears. Perhaps there’s a runny nose. Be prepared with a box of tissues
- Hand sanitizer
- More important now than ever before!
- Copies of the IEP draft for every person at the meeting
- This is very important! Have a copy for each parent/guardian, the student, every teacher in the meeting, the LEA, and yourself. Everyone in the meeting should have their own copy of the IEP to look at
- Check there that are enough chairs for everyone attending
These tips are very simple, but they will definitely save you time! You don’t want to stop your meeting to try to find a pen when the parent asks you for one. Be prepared ahead of time by following my tips.
